There are those who remove the sensuality from wine. They dissect it, turn it into numbers and labels and pieces. Wine was not meant for that. It was meant to be enjoyed, embraced, and experienced.
That being said, I have been introduced to a wonderful everyday wine that is inexpensive enough to actually enjoy with weeknight dinner and not break your budget.
Banrock Station is a brand from Australia, and they carry just about every kind of wine you’d find on a grocery store shelf- whites, reds, and blushes. They are also environmentally responsible, with a portion of proceeds going to protect wetlands.
Specifically, try their White Shiraz. It’s one of the few wines I’ve found that travels beautifully from appetizers to dessert. It is fairly light, but without the cloying sweetness you usually find in White Zinfandel.
To top things off, it is the best wine I have ever found to go with chocolate. Forget the milk- this wine highlights the flavors in chocolate and masks the mood-killing bitterness, no matter how dark of a dessert you pair it with.
