Listening to On Point this morning, one of the callers informed me of something I didn’t know about- that Big Media and the Entertainment Industry are all headed up by gay men who are purposely “firebombing the image of the nuclear family.”

Wow. Yet another facet of the “gay agenda” I was never informed of. You know, I’m fairly convinced that the talking head conservatives think that when any GLBT person comes out, they are taken into a dark room in the back of a secret dance club and “initiated” into Gay. This is a ceremony not yet observed by sociologists, but they are fairly certain it involves learning the secret handshake, the brainwashing into enjoying Cher (for men) and Birkenstock (for women). Then, at the very end of the ceremony, they are handed a bound and secretive document titled “The Gay Agenda – the issues, plans, and ideas you must support to be Gay.”

I’m sorry- I’ve never seen a copy of this book. I admit, since I’m only “half-gay” and by some not considered “truly” queer, perhaps I got left out. However, nobody I’ve ever seen come out has had this happen to them. The Gay Agenda just doesn’t exist- and if it did, it would make the painful process of coming out that much worse.

To all those out there that think there is a Gay Agenda:
- GLBT society, as a whole, is not one large organization. There are hundreds of organizations that GLBT people may or may not belong to. We’re about as well-organized as the USA Independent Party.

- It’s not a matter of wanting to ruin your family. It’s a matter of wanting our own families to have the same rights and responsibilities.

- Believe it or not, we don’t want to convert everyone. Sure, it would make dating a heck of a lot easier, but it’s just about being true to yourself.

- Our political views are as varied as any other “group”… I’ve met GLBT people that are all for gun control and fiscal conservatism. It’s not another part of the Vast Liberal Conspiracy.

Long story short- If you’ve got a copy of The Gay Agenda, I’d love to read it- so I can rip it to pieces.
